The IELTS test is an internationally recognised qualification for students applying to study in higher education institutions on undergraduate and post-graduate courses. It is a good all-round study skills option, which also serves as pre-sessional training for overseas students.
Test results are shown as bands with scores of 0 to 9 in each skill and an overall band which is an average of the four scores. Most academic courses require an overall of 6, although some less academic institutions will accept lower scores. More rigorous academic courses (including medicine) require 7 or 7.5 as an entry qualification.
Courses to prepare for IELTS test run throughout the year. Courses offer either 90 hours (Afternoon Course) or 96 hours (Evening Course) of input and the opportunity to work through sample papers under test conditions. Students are also encouraged to use the school's self-access materials for further practice. Many students prefer to combine the IELTS training with General English classes to improve overall competence. Tests are available each week, but at least 4 weeks' notice is required to secure a specific date.
Subject to availability. Minimum class size is 6. |
